Canadian Press - BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - The European Union lowered its growth forecast for the year to 1.5 per cent for the entire EU and 1.3 per cent for the 12 countries using the euro on Thursday.

AFP - The European Union's executive commission is set to officially trim back its growth estimate for the eurozone this year when it publishes its autumn economic forecasts.

AP - The European Commission lowered its 2005 growth forecast to 1.5 percent for the entire European Union and 1.3 percent for the nations using the euro, but said the economy was beginning to to pick up and both would see growth of 2.1 percent in 2006.
